Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream

We have all heard about the dangers of the sun, which could lead to skin cancer. A study shows one in five Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer, and this number is growing due to increased ultraviolet exposure from the sun and tanning beds. Ask any doctors or any skin specialist…they would definitely insist you to wear sunscreen daily. By wearing sunscreen daily and over the days and months to shield your skin from the risk of various types of skin cancer, especially, melanoma. This is the worst type of skin cancers, which can be life threatening for women, particularly those who are in their 20s.

As that cancer frightened me, I decided to purchase Cosrx’s aloe soothing sun cream online. That was basically after I read a few recommendations from some of the beauty lovers I knew.

This cream is formulated with 5,500ppm of aloe leaf extract which not only protects our skin against UVA & UVB rays, but it moistens our skin. It is formulated with SPF 50+ PA+++ that blocks harmful rays from penetrating our skin and triggering skin disorders. This sun cream has light-weight texture, which absorbs quickly and leaves skin feeling intensely hydrated without feeling greasy or looking flaky like some mineral sunscreens.

First thought…would this cream be compatible with my oily and sensitive skin? 

After a few weeks applying this sunscreen on my face, my answer is… “YES! It is suitable for my sensitive skin”. The texture is very hydrating and smooth. It doesn’t irritates my skin and it doesn’t leave any white cast upon application. I wouldn’t need to apply a makeup primer as my makeup goes on nicely over it.

Althea A’Bloom Moisturizing Watermelon Sheet Mask

I read so many reviews on the Althea A’Bloom Moisturizing Watermelon mask sheet from Althea Angels. The reviews are all too good to be true which lead curiosity in me on how effective this product could be.

And so…I purchased the masks during the 10+10 mask promotion thru the Althea website.

This mask is claimed to pack a punch of hydration and moisturization for a juicy chok chok skin that bounce. It has the power of deep hydration with a concentrated charge of ampoule essence. Each sheet contains 25g of essence that instantly fuels up & locks moisture by building soft moisture film on the skin surface.

This mask is suitable for all skin types. It is slightly acidic which helps to rebalance the pH level that has been damaged by the washing or peeling process. This eco-friendly mask sheet is made from natural eucalyptus tree. The texture is soft and and thin yet it won’t easily torn. It sits perfectly on to the skin like a second skin.

The key ingredients of this mask are Citrullus Vulgaris (Watermelon) Fruit Extract which is well known for water nourishment to the skin and Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract that helps for calming. The other active ingredients are:

1. Moisturizing: Trehalose, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate;
2. Calming: Ocimum Basilicum (Basil); and
3. Anti microbial: Acmella Oleracea Extractea Extract.

Every application leaves an intense hydration and cooling sensation to my skin. I noticed a few changes on my skin after several usages. My skin is getting slightly brighter and glowing. The mask scent is mild and very relaxing. It is the best to be used at night after you had a stressful day.

The A’Bloom fruits sheet mask is at retail for RM 2 (USD 0.48) and it comes in other fragrances too, which are:

• Avocado: anti-aging;
• Lemon: skin brightening and even skintone; and
• Peach: anti-blemish and calming redness.

Tarte Cosmetics Creaseless Concealer

A few months ago, I did put a test and review on Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer. It took me more than six (6) months to finish the whole tube as I don’t have to reapply it during the day and yes…I don’t wear makeup daily.

As the concealer was about to come an end, I decided to look out for a new concealer from a different brand. It’s not that I already get bored to Maybelline, but the curiosity to try out the Tarte Cosmetics concealer.

The first thing that came out from my mind as I entered the Sephora store was to get the new Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer. Unfortunately, during that time, the colour shade that matches my skin was unavailable.

So, I opted for the Tarte Creaseless Concealer.

Basically, the function of the Tarte Cosmetics creaseless concealer are as the same as any other concealers, i.e to cover redness, blemishes, hyperpigmentation and any skin discolouration. For my case, I usually use concealer to hide my dark circles and brighten up my eyes.

The Tarte Creaseless Concealer is a #flowerpowered vegan product that is formulated by:

• Maracuja: rich in essential fatty acids & vitamin C for firmer, brighter, smoother skin & maximum skin hydration;
• Vitamin C: antioxidant free radical fighter that helps prevent premature signs of aging, while brightening skin;
• Vitamin E: natural preservative that also acts as an emollient and antioxidant;
• Mineral pigments: soothe and soften skin; and
• Free from Parabens, Phthalates, Triclosan, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Gluten.

The full ingredients of the concealer are:

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2, cetyl alcohol, VP/hexadecene copolymer, silica dimethyl silylate, microcrystalline, wax/cera microcristallina/cire microcristalline, tocopheryl acetate, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, ascorbyl palmitate, passiflora edulis seed oil, tocopherol. I applied the concealer before I went out for a fieldwork a few months ago and believe it or not, I didn’t even have to touch up in between hours. A single application is enough to save the day and it stays as it is.

The MYR 110 (USD 26.34) I spent on this 6.4 g concealer is TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Well..I’m not surprised when they claimed to be the America’s #1 concealer brand!

The texture is a little bit thick and creamy.

The Clinique id Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly has become a hype ever since they entered Malaysia. Their existence has widespread even more as soon as those famous celebrities and influencers were sponsored to promote this moisturizer through their social media.

I swear I was not influenced by all those sponsored ads in the beginning.

Not at all.

YES…I SWEAR!

Until that certain point when my face has become oilier than usual and the temptation of cutting down my daily skincare step’s routine. As for a working woman who loves sleeping, it’s not easy to get the best in both. So, the only way I could do is by saving less time with my morning skincare routine and putting on my makeup.

The Clinique iD Differently Dramatic Hydrating Jelly is a 2 in 1 skincare product that works as a serum and a moisturizer. The jelly gives 24 hours of hydration repair and it’s pollution protection. The texture is a non-greasy and weightless. It contains hyaluronic acid, that can hold onto water, leaving skin hydrated all day and it is suitable for all skin types. 

My skin immediately absorbed the gel without feeling sticky. Sometimes, I stored this jelly in the refrigerator for a refreshing sensation.

There are five (5) types of active cartridge concentrate to choose, depending on your skin concerned:

Olay is not something new to me. This brand has been into my life more than a decade. Thanks to my mum who introduced me to this brand when I was a teenager.  I started with the Olay daily moisturizer and now I am back to the drugstore again to look out for the Olay Regenerist Whip.

Olay Regenerist whip is an anti-aging moisturizer that reduces the appearance of fine line and wrinkles. Formulated with advanced Amino-Peptide Complex II, this light-weight moisturizer actively hydrates to improve elasticity and firm skin for a lifted look, while eliminating fine lines and wrinkles.

“Light as Air Finish”…that’s what they claimed.

And YES, they really mean it!

The whip is so light and hydrated my skin with a matte finish it without feeling sticky or greasy. It is perfect for normal and oily to combination skin.

These are the ingredients of the whip:

After using this moisturizer for a month, I managed to control sebum on my face through out a long day under the sun. I don’t need to layer my face with powder to stay matte. I could even use it under my makeup as it creates a great, hydrated base for my makeup. The whip has a mild scent but it wouldn’t lingered for too long.

This 50g moisturizer cost is MYR 109.90 (USD 26.93).

Pretty expensive for a drugstore moisturizer, but it’s totally worth it!
